BUNDANON ART GALLERY | RIVERSDALE

The challenge Aesthetic vision, functional needs

The design team for the Bundanon Art Gallery had a clear vision. They needed custom-made outdoor bollards to fit the clean, minimalist look of the outdoor space. The luminaires had to provide safe lighting along paths and landscaped walkways. And it had to look contemporary, modern and low glare. The real challenge was manufacturing good design with strict functional requirements. The bollards had to be durable and meet access lighting standards for public and disabled pedestrian use. Off-the-shelf solutions didn’t fit the style envisioned by the client. This meant the entire luminaire, from housing to optics, had to be developed from scratch. The solution had to be efficient, elegant, and ready to install with minimal disruption to the project timeline.

Bollard A lighting bollard is a short post with a built- in light. It’s used outdoors to light up paths, driveways, gardens, parks and public spaces. Most lighting bollards are made from strong materials like aluminium or steel. And many use LED lights because they last longer and use less power. Some even run on solar power or turn on when they detect movement. DEFINE:
