Correct Handling & Installation Guidelines for LED Strips
Soldering & Reworking of LED Strip Components
Preparation of Surface
Avoid reworking or re ‐ soldering LED strip components wherever possible. If soldering or reworking is necessary, care must be taken at all times. Equipment and work environment must adhere to anti ‐ static policies. Soldering procedure; Pre ‐ tin the soldering pads and conducting wires Solder points for max 3s at 350 •c. Allow solder points to completely cool down before the next soldering.
Care must be taken to provide a clean and dry mounting surface, free of oils, moisture silicone any free of any dirt or dust particles. The mounting substrate must have sufficient structural integrity.
Removing Adhesive Tape Film
If the mounting of the LED strip module is facilitated by means of the double ‐ sided adhesive, the adhesive tape will be pre ‐ applied on the back ‐ surface of the LED strip module. Take care to completely remove the protective film.
Cutting or trimming LED Strip Components;
When necessary to cut the LED strip, take care when handling to reduce static. Only cut the LED strip at the designated cutting points marked on the LED PCB
Ensure absolutely no contamination of dust or particles comes into contact with the adhesive surface at any time.
This guide is for generic information purposes only. Please refer to your qualified architect, designer or electrical contractor before finalising any details regarding wiring and installation. Installation of LED equipment must be made with regard to all applicable wiring & safety standards. Installation of any lighting product should only be carried out by suitably qualified personnel.
